Hi! I'm Mariah.
I work at the intersection of ops and product to build scalable systems for human connection.
about
In 2020, I co-founded Schoolhouse with Sal Khan and Drew Bent to empower students all over the world to tutor each other in small-group Zoom sessions. Over five years, I developed the systems that made safe, high quality tutoring possible at scale—screening, training, certification, moderation, community building, etc. When I left in September 2025, we had reached over 130,000 learners across 160+ countries.
My time at Schoolhouse helped me understand how powerful tech (particularly AI) can be in breaking through the logistical bottlenecks that keep people from connecting, and I'm excited to bring what I've learned to new domains.
Previously: data engineering at Tresata, HCI research at UNC Charlotte. Forbes 30 Under 30 Education, 2023.
what I'm looking for
I want to contribute to early teams building tech that furthers human connection or mental health.
I'm particularly drawn to ideas involving peer support or activity-centered social connection. I'm open to Boston, SF, or the right opportunity elsewhere.
